Mechanical engineering is the core department of AIET college which is established in 2005. Mechanical Engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and material science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering discipline. Mechanical Engineering includes design, manufacture, installation and operation of engines, machines, robotics, heating & cooling systems and manufacturing processes. In this profession, the student will be responsible for designing and developing machines right from bicycle to supersonic fighter jet which can be extremely challenging and fulfilling, requiring analytical skills together with an ability to work in a team. The student must love machines and be comfortable working with tools. Graduates can work in the automotive, aerospace, chemical, computer, communication, paper, power generation and almost all manufacturing industries. Mechanical engineers also work in maintenance and service profiles in all industries. Also they can choose teaching profession in universities and colleges.
OUR MAJOR STRENGTHS
The department has spacious and well equipped laboratories. All the laboratories of the department have been designed and created to provide impetus to these areas apart from being used in teaching and programming. The following labs are in the department :
Computer Aided Manufacturing Lab (CNC Lab) :
CNC Machining is a process used in the manufacturing sector that involves the use of computers to control machine tools. Tools that can be controlled by the use of computer in lathes & milling machine. Lathe machine includes Facing, Turning, Step Turning, Taper Turning, Threading, Drilling, Grooving operation. Milling machine includes Drilling & Slating operation.
Computer Aided Design Lab (CAD Lab):
To provide the knowledge of design & manufacturing with the aid of computers, and application of soft ware like Auto-cad, Pro-E, and solid works etc.
Thermal Engineering Lab :
The lab imparts through I.C.Engines and models the basic working and construction of the automobiles. Steam generators and accessories to provide the basics in power generation and working principles.
Fluid Mechanics Lab :
A fully equipped laboratory is provided for the students to practice Flow phenomenon and study and understand the basics of fluid mechanics.
Turbo Machines Lab :
A fully equipped laboratory is provided for the students to practice Flow phenomenon and study and understand the basics of Hydraulic machines to correlate with the theories.
Automobile Lab :
The equipment required to provide knowledge with emphasis on transmission, Gear box, Wheel Balancing and alignment etc. are installed.
Mechanical Measurement & Control Lab :
Feedback system, various types of transducers, Slip gauges, filler gauges and Sine bars are equipped in the laboratory.
Mechanical Vibration Lab :
In this we study about the vibration of simple and compound pendulum, bifilar, trifler and equivalent spring mass system, dunker lay methods, and other analytical forces and vectors which will help in minimizing vibration amplitude.
Materials Science & Testing Lab :
Various models for crystallographic study, Preparation of samples for study of properties like material defects, composition etc and equipment for analysis of strength, hardness and stiffness etc are provided for the study of materials and their properties.
Dynamics of Machine Lab :
Lab is equipped with models of various kinds of Brakes, Clutches , Gear boxes etc. which are used in different kinds of automobiles & other machines to give the knowledge of their construction & working principle to the students.
Heat Transfer Lab :
In this we learn about the modes of heat transfer - conduction, convection and radiation.
Internal Combustion Engine Lab :
We study the trouble shooting and maintenance of the engine, working of engine, and assembly - disassembly of engine practically by maruti car engine.
Basic Mechanical Engineering Lab :
Here we Study about the working, construction and the maintenance of the different mechanical equipments like swing machine, washing machine, air conditioner, refrigerator etc.
Mechanical Workshop Lab :
The machines required for day to day functioning/fabrication are installed in the Machine shop, Welding shop, Fitting shop, Carpentry and Foundry. Basic practices are being performed by the students to understand the various operations to be deal in industry.
Project Lab :
Under this lab students are developing different - different projects which will enhance their practical skills and new ideas. In this students have to do live projects in the college.
Machine Drawing Lab :
The back-bone of mechanical engineering is the engineering drawing. With this we understand that what we have to make and of which shape, size and up to what accuracy we require.
MECH-MEET (MECHANICAL - MEMBER OF EBULLIENT ENGINEER'S TEAM)
MECH_MEET is the society established in March 2012 under the guidance and untiring efforts of our HOD sir Mr. Anil Kumar Mahawar, faculties and our team members. The society is created to motivate the students to explore and enhance the Mechanical Engineer inside them & to promote inter-change of information amongst the specialist and between the specialist and public. So, we have established our AIET Mechanical Engineers society named “MECH-MEET”.
The society aims at establishing strong link viz. stable networking of the budding technocrats, the main spring of the modern industrial environment. It also promotes scientific and educational activities towards the advancement of the theory and practice of Mechanical Technocrats. It will make enormous contribution to campus life & will provide the much needed fun.
